Diablo 4 Season Journey Requirements and Rewards (Season 1)

Diablo 4 Season Journey Requirements and Rewards (Season 1)

Diablo 4 Season 1’s Season Journey

The first season of Diablo 4 brings many new mechanics and powers to explore. It’s a fresh slate, but with it comes a number of challenges for players to take on as they restart their grind to level 100. The Season Journey may feel daunting to some, but for the most part, we can treat it as a progression guide.

It’s filled with tasks of various sizes. Some are extremely easy while others may require a bit of heavy lifting. How you decide to proceed is ultimately up to you!

If you’re looking to reach the end and receive the exclusive season rewards, allow me to breakdown and simplify the requirements. I’ll also give you some recommendations on which tasks to focus on in order to save time. Let’s get started!

What are the requirements in order to complete the Season Journey?

If you struggled to reach level 100 on the Eternal Realm, then I’ve got some bad news for you…while the majority of rewards are relatively easy to achieve, the season-exclusive ones will require you to truly reach the endgame. That means level 100 at a minimum.

Technically, it could be possible to complete the Season Journey without reaching level 100, but given the challenges you’ll be tasked with, level 100 is likely one of the easier options. All that said, waiting for you at the end of the Season Journey is an exclusive title and a Scroll of Amnesia. The former is just one of many titles while the latter is just an item of convenience.

The Scroll of Amnesia allows for a one-time free reset to all skills and paragon points. It’s definitely a handy item to take back into the Eternal Realm, but if you’re planning to just play Seasonal, then it won’t matter.

Earning Favor

One of the biggest reasons to advance the Season Journey is to earn Favor. Favor is the “exp” that fills up the bar on the battle pass. While Favor can be earned passively by slaying monsters and just playing the game, the Season Journey awards Favor for each objective you complete; making it a very efficient source of progression.

The battle pass holds numerous cosmetics which you’ll unlock as you reach different tiers on the track. Unlike the Season Journey, there’s no hard requirement in order to reach the end of the battle pass. So even if you can’t reach the end of the Season Journey, it could still be possible for you to earn enough Favor. Just keep demolishing demons until your heart’s content!

Either way, regardless of whether or not you care about the cosmetics or prestigious titles, so long as you’re playing the game you’ll be making progress. At the end of the day, most of these objectives will be completed naturally. However, if you want to kickstart your progress and accelerate through the battle pass, look no further!

Recommended Path

These are my recommended objectives to complete on your way from Chapter I to IV. The ones in bold text are my tasks of choice for completing the Season Journey as soon as possible. Beyond Chapter IV, there’s the Slayer, Champion, and Destroyer tiers. These objectives are far more difficult and I believe the optimal path will vary between players. I’ll leave them up to you.

Of course, feel free to choose which tasks suit you best. This is just my personal recommendation, but play the game in whichever way you enjoy most!

Chapter I

Diablo 4 chapter 1

Rewards

  • Greater Favor
  • First Journey Cache: Contains herbs and jewelry.
  • Aspect of Ancestral Charge (Barbarian)
  • Subterranean Aspect (Druid)
  • Aspect of Gore Quills (Necromancer)
  • Aspect of Pestilent Points (Rogue)
  • Aspect of Searing Wards (Sorcerer)

Objectives (7/9)

  • Collect 15 Gallowvine
  • Collect a Malignant Heart (Post-Campaign)
  • Complete a Dungeon
  • Complete a World Event
  • Complete 3 Dungeons in Fractured Peaks
  • Complete a Cellar
  • Complete 5 Side Quests
  • Purchase a Whispering Key
  • Salvage 10 Normal Items

The Chapter I objectives are extremely easy and straightforward. We only need to complete seven of these, and honestly all nine are a breeze. Collecting Gallowvine and completing a World Event will only take a few minutes. Purchasing a Whispering Key and salvaging normal items will take seconds. While completing dungeons does take longer than a few side quests and a cellar, it’ll be important for future chapters.

Important Note: In case you aren’t aware, all objective progress stacks from one chapter to the next. This means that anything you’ve completed already will count towards the next chapter’s progress! Plan accordingly and you’ll easily kill two birds with one stone, or perhaps more!

As far as rewards go, completing the first chapter unlocks the five NEW class-specific aspects. So if you’re interested in trying out these new powers, you won’t have to wait long to get started!

Chapter II

Diablo 4 chapter 2

Rewards

  • Greater Favor
  • Second Journey Cache: Contains Scattered Prisms and jewelry.
  • Bold Chieftain’s Aspect (Barbarian)
  • Shockwave Aspect (Druid)
  • Aspect of Exposed Flesh (Necromancer)
  • Aspect of Surprise (Rogue)
  • Aspect of Frozen Orbit (Sorcerer)

Objectives (9/11)

  • Complete 10 Cellars
  • Collect 3 Malignant Hearts
  • Conquer a Stronghold
  • Craft a Chipped Gem
  • Complete 5 Malignant Tunnels
  • Reach Level 25
  • Collect 15 Demon Hearts
  • Change at Wardrobe 5 times
  • Use Waypoints 10 times
  • Upgrade two Items to Level 2
  • Upgrade to Minor Potion

Chapter II offers another set of easy objectives. Crafting a chipped gem, changing at a wardrobe, using waypoints, upgrading items and potions.. These can all be done on demand. Just go to the location, click a few times, and you’re done. Conquering one stronghold is a relatively quick task, plus it’s useful for unlocking a new town on the map. The Malignant Tunnels will ultimately take the longest, but seeing as it’s the Seasonal mechanic, we’re going to be doing a lot of these. So may as well get started early!

Note: It’s pretty easy to acquire 15 Demon Hearts, but depending on drop rates and what you’re doing, you may be level 25 before that point. Either way, that final objective comes naturally.

Chapter III

Diablo 4 chapter 3

Rewards

  • Greater Favor
  • Third Journey Cache: Contains Legendary Salvage and jewelry.
  • Aspect of Encroaching Wrath (Barbarian)
  • Dire Wolf’s Aspect (Druid)
  • Aspect of Decay (Necromancer)
  • Aspect of Imitated Imbuement (Rogue)
  • Aspect of the Unbroken Tether (Sorcerer)

Objectives (10/13)

  • Collect 5 Scattered Prisms
  • Buy 5 Items from the Purveyor of Curiosities
  • Conquer 5 Strongholds
  • Unlock 4 Aspects
  • Complete 5 World Events
  • Complete 10 Whispers (Not 10 Grim Favors)
  • Craft 5 Elixirs
  • Imprint an Aspect
  • Obtain 10 Caches from Tree of Whispers
  • Complete 5 Malignant Tunnels
  • Upgrade to Moderate Potion
  • Upgrade two Items to Level 2
  • Use a Wrathful Malignant Invoker

Chapter III brings some more difficult challenges, while surprisingly giving some freebies. For starters, by the time you’ve reached this point you’ll already have unlocked four aspects and completed five Malignant Tunnels. We get free aspects from completing the previous chapters, so this is literally free. Plus, assuming you’ve completed the Malignant Tunnels in Chapter II, then you’re already done that too. I’m not sure why this is the case, but I’ll take it!

Gambling Obols and completing World Events goes hand in hand. Crafting elixirs, imprinting an aspect, and upgrading potions and items is all quickly achievable. All that leaves is the Strongholds and Whispers. Strongholds are relatively quick, and we only need to complete four more. Completing 10 Whispers will depend on which ones you choose. Keep in mind the value of the Whispers isn’t what matters, only the quantity. It’s not 10 Grim Favors that we’re farming, it’s completing indiviual Whispers, be it for one favor or five.

Chapter IV

Diablo 4 chapter 4

Rewards

  • Greater Favor
  • Fourth Journey Cache: Contains Malignant Hearts, Forgotten Souls, and jewelry.
  • Earthquake Aspect (Barbarian)
  • Lightning Dancer’s Aspect (Druid)
  • Coldbringer’s Aspect (Necromancer)
  • Umbrous Aspect (Rogue)
  • Gravitational Aspect (Sorcerer)

Objectives (9/12)

  • Collect 10 Malignant Hearts
  • Change the World Tier
  • Purify 1000 Seeds of Hatred (PvP)
  • Collect 5 Coiling Wards
  • Unlock 15 Aspects
  • Complete the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon
  • Craft 10 Elixirs
  • Equip a Legendary Item in Every Slot
  • Upgrade an Item to Level 4
  • Kill 100 Elites
  • Reach Level 50
  • Complete 25 Side Quests

Chapter IV offers the last few free objectives as it prepares you for World Tier III. First off, changing the World Tier takes the click of a button. Secondly, by this point you’ve absolutely collected 15 Aspects and killed far more than 100 elites. You’ve also likely collected 10 Malignant Hearts throughout your venture into the tunnels.

Where the main achievement lies is completing the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon. If you skipped the Campaign this time around, you’re more or less free to do things as you please. However, without the story guiding your level progression, it’s up to you to make it to 50 (or relatively close to) on your own.

Once complete the rest more or less speaks for itself. Head over to World Tier III, kill a few enemies to find your first Sacred Item, then upgrade it to level 4. Everything else is just town stuff (salvaging/crafting).

Endgame

Beyond Chapters I to IV, the Season Journey will help guide you through the end game. The path is yours to choose, but if you ever need some direction, the objectives are a great signpost to help lead you in the right direction.

Good luck and happy demon hunting!
